High mountains are not something Poland is known for, and in the highest ones – the Tatra Mountains – highline is banned. This country, however, has magnificent limestone rock structures that can be found in the area between Częstochowa and Krakow. And somewhere in that area, not far from Krakow, we will meet at No Fun Festival.
The first edition of the festival took place on March 2017, and the name of the festival became official in May of the same year, on the occasion of the second edition. As you have noticed, No Fun Highline Meeting can take place even several times a year. Most importantly, the basic rule of this event is a total ban on smiling. So be serious, especially when you’ll be on the line. This is No Fun. This is not a pleasure, so the smallest smile can exclude you from further participation. Remember! No Fun – No Smile!
Transportation:
You can fly to Krakow by low-cost airlines (Krakow Airport named after John Paul II, Balice). Travel from the airport to the center area ~ 2E and 25 min. Distance from the center to the festival is only 20 km. You have two options to get there by public transport. The first option is to take a tram to Bronowice and bus to Bolechowice or, the second option, take a train to Zabierzów and bus to Bolechowice. You will travel for less than an hour and pay ~ 2E. Alternatively, call Uber or Bolt (~ 8-9E) or ask onSlackKrk.
If you want to get there by car it can take you up to 20 minutes. You can park it later at one of the free car parks in the center of the village and then go further on foot. If you have heavy equipment, drive along Tourist Street (ul.Turystyczna) to drive near entrance to the valley. From there it’s about 2 min walk to the campground. Yes, there is a no traffic sign, that’s why do not smile loudly and put the car in the parking lot after unpacking the equipment.
Accommodation:
You can sleep on campground,in a tent or a hammock, or in the car near the entrance to the valley (there is a risk of getting a fine, but so far that no one was fined). You have a wooden shed at your disposal with benches, table, and roof. The shed is fit for 10 people at the same time, if they like each other very much. However, it is not the case on No Fun. So, rather, 6 indifferent people will find some comfort here. When it rains heavily, your back can get wet, because the roof of the shelter, although tasteful, is tiny and during the rain hardly funny. Next to the shelter, you have a bonfire, where you can dry wet clothes/body. You can find the fridge in a brook flowing nearby, also working as a bathtub. There is a deepened place behind the bend of the stream, with water up to the waist … if not, then you have to dig it up and make a dam.
If you looking for toilet search in the woods, in the fields and in the meadow. Don’t forget to take paper and shovel.
Food:
Required own supply. A grocery store is 700 meters from the camp. I recommend buying water in the store. If there is no other option, take water from the stream but boil it before use! Drinking unboiled water may result in a change the shade of the face to a pale green and very loose stool. PositivelyAddicted can provide you with detailed information if you feel like talking about such things.
The nearest restaurant (“Sen O Dolinie” – good pizza and sour soup-żurek) can be found in the nearby village Kobylany, ~ 30 min walk / 5 min by car.
Festival surroundings:
The Bolechowicka Valley, just like the surrounding ones, the Będkowska Valley and the Kobylańska Valley consist of whole bunch climbing routes. The latter is also a great place for highline. Besides, as you will come here in autumn, the colors will pick your brain like a good acid.
If you have more time, visit Krakow, one of the most beautiful Polish cities and the former capital of Poland.
Few words from organizer:
Nie znajdziesz tutaj nic ciekawego. Będę pobierał od ciebie opłaty (twoje ciężko zarobione pieniądze), które przeznaczę na te dziwne pręty i krążki, które czasem wystają ze skał. Gwarantuję zero nudy oraz obóz niewolniczej pracy, idealny dla osób bez perspektyw. Zero zabawy, zero uśmiechu, wykorzystam Cię najlepiej jak tylko potrafię i to wszystko dla własnej, osobistej satysfakcji. Zapraszam
